Lets Try One more time.... or five

So both envelopes have were sent they made it somewhere but then disappeared. You know what I think I am going to try one more time. I am going to send five new envelopes out into the network. Lets see if we can do better. Stay tuned for further developments.

Second Envelope 5th Stop

Here are the images of the Envelope after it's 5th stop with Blueness in Vancouver.

In total the envelope has traveled roughly 21,752 Km as the crow flies.
From Brisbane, Australia to Miles City, Montans, USA: 13014Km
From Miles City to Halifax, Canada: 3260Km
From Halifax to Cramerton, USA: 1816Km
From Cramerton to Vancouver, Canada: 3662Km

Flying again

Ok so we are back in business. We have two envelopes going at the same time to increase our chances of success and we are now flyng high and fast. I am going to attempt to work out the distance the envelopes have travelled and start listing the destinations visited etc, so we get a sense of their journey. So far both envelopes have gone to five ports of call and are moving on their way.

We lost it

Ok so the envelope went postal and dissapeared...... it happens. Maybe it will land in some far and distant land where they will use it to study our culture.. we can only hope. But we are back on the road again. So hopefully this time we get a bit further. I hope to have more images soon.

The envelope is on its way

To keep a record of the envelopes journey, the partcipants are asked to scan the front and back of it before they send it on. Here is the first scan from emelengy.
Ok here is the game:

A single A4 envelope leaves Australia and gets posted to the next person on the list. That person upon receiving the envelope writes their name (real or their mail art handle) and location on the back of the envelope. Without removing any of the stamps each person in turn will replace their address with the next person on the list's address, add new postage and send it on.

The idea is to see how many times we can use one envelope to travel the globe. The hopeful result will be a well travelled envelope covered in stamps and cancellation marks from all over the place and maybe a few warnings from our friendly local post offices to “not reuse envelopes” on the back will be a record of where it has been and who has contributed.

Daniel Farrell and Richard Kegler from P22 started a similar project sending it between themselves, but my aim is to make it an international mail project.

It will run simply: I will send the envelope to the first person who signs up who will send it to the second person and so on. Once it has gone around a bit anyone who is still interested can put his or her name down again for another swing at it.

There is no limit to how many people can play…. Lets see how long we can keep it going (chain mail with a difference).

Inside the envelope will be a single sheet of paper with these instructions on it so if the envelope gets lost hopefully we will get it back. If it gets to you and you think there is no chance that you can post it on let the group know and we will brain storm a solution but the idea is to play with the postal service so try and be cunning.

I will keep a record of the envelopes progression on the thread so let me know when you have received it and when you have sent it on. When the event ends I will scan the front and back and e-mail everyone who contributed a high res jpeg so you can print out your own copy.
